The ascension of Jesus Christ
Without the Ascension the redemption is not complete, this point is as crucial as the resurrection.
The bible tells us Acts 1: 8
*8but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth*
Acts 1: 9-11
9And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. 11They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.
We will look into three aspects of the ascension of jesus christ into heaven:
First of all the *Ascension* was prophesied in the old testament, it wasn’t something that just occurred. The bible pre-dictates Christ’s coming, it also prophesied the ascension of Christ into heaven. The bible tells us In Psalm 68 the bible says Thou has ascended on high, Thou has led captivity captive, Thou has received gifts for man yeah for the rebellious also that the lord God might dwell among them. Not only was it prophesied but it was also predicted by Christ, when Jesus Christ was with his disciples, he told them about his own death and his resurrection, Jesus Christ knew he needed to ascend into heaven and offer his final sacrifice to complete the redemption. He also told them I am not going to be with you long. John 13:33 Little children, I am with you only a little while longer. You will look for Me, and as I said to the Jews, so now I say to you: ‘Where I am going, you cannot come Jesus was returning to heaven, to the father where he came from.. John 13:36 tell us that Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow NOW, but you will FOLOW LATER
Not only was it prophesied, not only was it predicted, but it was also witnessed by the disciples. Jesus last words were but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth and after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight This was the last time Jesus Christ was seen in human form.
If this was the end, this would have been sad, but the bible reassures us once again, as the disciples were gazing intently into the sky while he was going behold two man in white clothing stood beside them Acts 1:11 They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven What does this mean to us? this same Jesus that left and ascended into heaven will come back Personally for us This is the reassurance of Christ to us, He will come himself for us. The bible tells us in 1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first
You only descend when you have ascended, Jesus Christ is up in heaven sitting at the right hand side of God and he will come for us, just as the disciples saw him leave in physical form, he will come just like that. He has not abandoned us, he has not forgotten us. Revelation 1:7 reassures us “Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen. The reassurance is that he will come and take us back home. He will make sure that no child of God is left behind..
God’s Blessings be with you..
